Hi everyone, so if you’ve been following me on Twitter, you’ve may have seen I have been using new tools provided by Blender’s new update. The main one I’ve been using is called Asset Library. This tool is going to help me a lot with the level design and building the props for a certain game. Here’s a little idea of what it does.
So as you can see loads of models and there’s a lot more to add, the other cool thing is, it can also have my materials in which I can just drag to the model and as long as I have assigned the faces to a material, I can change it to a material I have in my library. Now the cool part.
Blender has added a new tool called Geometry Nodes, its simply packs of code joined together make models, but what a lot of people have done is use this tool to make things like for example, you draw a wavy line on the screen and then you apply the modifier to it and bam it generates a flower and yet that’s still nothing, someone made one that not only generates a building but you can also fine tune the damage the building has.
So I’m currently learning to make my own version of the tool to generate the buildings for the game but not only that but the rooms and props which is why I’m building the library because I recently found out that it can link to the library so I could have it select different things like for example everything in the library that has the tag Graveyard, I could drag a cube into the scene and apply the modifier and select Graveyard, it theoricaly could generate a Graveyard themed room.
